Open Call for Submissions: The Synchronicity Project

Call for Submissions:

This is an open call for submissions regarding the topic of Synchronicity.  Please review all submission guidelines before submitting.  This open call will end on December 31, 2017.

If accepted, compensation is as follows:

$10 for Interpretations/Perceived Definitions, $20 for Micro Stories, $50 for Short Stories

All monies due are to be paid upon acceptance through PayPal, with a decision no later than June 1, 2018.  Please, no inquiries as to submission status until after such date as prescribed above.

If accepted, you, the “Writer”, grant all publishing rights, print, audio, and digital, to Melody A. Martin, the “Author”, for the purpose of the project “Synchronicity” in all its forms, present and future.  By submitting to this open call, you are agreeing to these terms.  You may only decline these terms after submitting by withdrawing your submission prior to its acceptance.  (See how to submit and withdraw below.)

Guidelines: 

Option 1:

Your interpretation of what Synchronicity is to you, your perceived definition.  Up to 100 words.

 

Option 2:

Micro Stories: Less than 200 words.  Describe a brief moment of synchronicity.  Example: “I was standing in line at the grocery store when I overheard a woman behind me say [something significant not currently discussed casually] that I had just discussed with my husband before I left the house…”

 

Option 3:

Short stories: 500 – 1500 words.  Describe a set of synchronicities.  Please have a beginning, middle, and an end.  Examples: “When I left my house that morning [this happened, then this happened, then this] …”  or “When I was a child, I always noticed [something], and as I began to grown up [it showed up in these ways].  To this day I still experience [said synchronicity] …”

Disclaimer:  All stories must be 100% true and factual statements of events and your experience of those events to the best of your knowledge.  No fictionalized stories, please.

How to Submit, Withdraw, or Inquire:  Please Read Closely:

All works for this open call should be sent to SynchronicitySubmissions@Gmail.com with the subject line reading “Submission”.  Please attach all files as .DOC or.DOCX, and please send separate emails for multiple submissions.  No more than 5 submissions per person, please.  The body of the email should be considered your Cover Letter, and should include:  Your first and last name, type of submission, and word count.  If your work is not selected for this round of the open call, all rights revert back to you after June 1, 2018 and your submission will be destroyed.  If you would like your work to be considered for future Synchronicity Projects beyond this open call, please indicate this in your cover letter.  The same pay rate will apply should your work be accepted for any future use in any Synchronicity Project.

You are free to submit your work elsewhere (simultaneous submissions), but please kindly advise us if your work is accepted elsewhere by sending an email to the above address with the subject line reading “Withdrawal”.  Should you withdraw a piece, you may submit a new and unique one before the open call closes on December 31, 2017, granted you do not surpass a total of 5 open submissions.

All acceptance letters for this open call will be emailed no later than June 1, 2018.  Should you not receive notice of the status of your submission by June 1, 2018, you may send a query to the above email address with the subject line reading “Status Inquiry”.  Please, no inquiries before such date as prescribed above.  If accepted, you will be notified by email with instructions on receiving payment through PayPal.  Once accepted, you may not withdraw your story from the project “Synchronicity”, and you must withdraw it from any other source to which you have submitted it.  Please add the email address above to your contacts after submitting to prevent acceptance letters from being filtered into spam.
